Interest Rate Update: As of the close 4/13/07 from Alicia Hodenfield of Investor’s Trust

Today we received some good news on inflation – the Producer Price Index (PPI) Report, which measures wholesale or producer inflation, reported Core PPI as unchanged for the month of March which was less than expectations of a .2% increase.
This lower than expected read helps to lower the year over year Core PPI inflation rate to 1.7% which is down from the 2% Core rate seen in January. What this report suggests is that Core inflation at the wholesale level is beginning to moderate, which will be overall good for Bonds. This reporting hasn’t had a direct impact as of yet and I’ll keep watching!
