COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 4 RECAP
September 23rd, 2007 . by JoetheSportsGuyThis week’s addition is titled “Where did the defense go?”
BRONZE…Oklahoma State 49 Texas Tech 45…This doesn’t have the wipeout value as most games that appear here.
The game was tied at every number that you divide evenly by 7 (another words everytime their was a score it was a touchdown) until 42. Despite that there were five lead changes. Texas Tech Wide Receiver Danny Amendola caught 14 catches for 233 yards and a touchdown…and he wasn’t his teams leading receiver. He missed out on that to Michael Crabtree by 4 yards and two touchdowns. Yes, those two receivers combined for 470 yards and lost. So what were the quarterback numbers you ask? Texas Tech’s Graham Harris was 46 for 67 for…get this…647 yards and five touchdowns. Your asking how Oklahoma State won despite all these number. Well, they had not one….not two…but three backs rush for over 100 hundred yards.
The two teams combined for 62 first downs over 1,300 yards of total offense. One other note about these numbers. Graham Harris wasn’t the only quarterback to have a big day and lose.
Louisville’s Brian Brohm was 45 for 65 for 555 yards and 4 touchdowns. Louisville still lost to
Syracuse 38-35.
SILVER…Oregon 55 Stanford 31…Stanford scored all their touchdowns in the second quarter and turned a 21-3 deficit into a 31-21 and then quit scoring. Oregon didn’t…outscoring Stanford 31-0 in the second half.
GOLD….Hawaii 66 Charleston 10…This game ended at about 3 am Charleston time. Thankfully the game was played in Hawaii. Is a 66-10 beating worth a trip to Hawaii? Okay stupid question.
Here’s another one: How many fans stayed up in Charleston to listen to this one?
HONORABLE MENTION: Michigan 14 Penn State 9…What? This must be a misprint. This is a score midway through the first quarter. What? It’s a final. With Michigan? Yes. These two teams had less yardage combined…then Texas Tech Graham Harris had in passing yards.
