As you know by now Cal missed a wonderful oppurtunity to get the No. 1 ranking in the country.They didn’t realize how costly it was until the first BCS rankings of the season came out and there they were at No. 12, although they only fell to No. 10 in the AP poll, which is the exact same drop USC had when they lost to 41 point underdog Stanford two weeks ago. The BCS system stinks…and it isn’t fair, but its been that way since it started so why would it change now. Get the idea they pick the teams they want in a championship game. Ohio State moves to No. 1 with a 48-3 win over powerhouse Kent State. Great system they have here..
As for the weekly awards..
BRONZE…BOISE STATE 69 NEVADA 67 IN 4 OT’S…You may of missed this game Sunday Night with the NFL and Baseball Playoffs getting the TV time. Highest scoring game in NCAA History. In the first two overtimes there were 5 plays…four of them touchdowns. Both teams gained over 600 yards. Regulation score was 44-44. And of all things Nevada had a 4th quarter extra point blocked or they would of won the ballgame..
SILVER…NO. 1 AND NO. 2 GO DOWN: Just another example of how much those human polls know, there has been plenty of examples of that this college football season. Yet the human polls go along way in determining who will play in the National Championship Game. Did I mention what a great system this is?
GOLD…BCS STANDINGS OUT: If the championship game was now it would be between Ohio State and South Florida. Look for the BCS standings to do anything to get South Florida out of the mix. Unlike teams that people think are good…South Florida cannot afford to lose a game from here on out and that might not be good enough. BTW..Arizona State is undefeated and they arenot in the top ten in any of the human polls.
HONORABLE MENTION: SOUTH FLORIDA 64 UCF 12…Just in case you were wondering how South Florida is No. 2. South Florida hasn’t played football for to many years, but they know how to get the votes don’t they.
