COLLEGE FOOTBALL WRAP….OH CAL NOT AGAIN
October 22nd, 2007 . by JoetheSportsGuyYou can feel the sadness in Berkeley from here in Sonoma County as once again the Cal Football Team takes a midseason nosedive.
But first
ROUTE OF THE WEEK…Clemson 70 Central Michigan 14. Clemson actually trailed in this game 7-0, then scored the next 42 points. Central Michigan has a respectable record of 4-4 and beat Army 47-23, which really pumps me up for the Army-Navy game.
As for the top three of the week..
No. 3…LSU’s winning touchdown with :01 left…Did anyone else notice that their were :04 left when the touchdown signal came and the clock ran down to :01. Obviously no different as far as the game played, just enough time for a kickoff. The announcers made it sound like they risked the game on that play. No they tried to score a different way then relying on a field goal…if it was incomplete, then kick the field goal. Cal should of had that play at the end of the Oregon State game(more about Cal later) and the Niners should try something to like that when they got blitz after blitz against the Giants. I guess they rather have their QB get smacked and fumble and watch the defense return the fumble 75 yards for a TD.
No. 2…Oregon vs. Arizona State…With all the excitement of the upcoming USC-Cal game now dead in the water..this is the big game in the PAC 10. Oregon’s only loss was the Marcuz Ezeff play against Cal and Arizona State hasn’t lost. Oregon is 6-1, Arizona State is 7-0. Oregon is No. 5 in the BCS…Arizona State is No. 4. They meet on Saturday November 3rd.
Warning though:
Oregon host USC and Arizona State host Cal this week.
No. 1…Not Again Cal…the yearly meltdown has happened again. This time to UCLA. Again in field goal range to win it…they throw an INT that UCLA runs back for a touchdown. UCLA!!!! Who lost to Notre Dame…who has lost to EVERYBODY ELSE. And if you care still…USC AT CAL on November 10th.
