COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECAP…A LITTLE LATE BUT HERE IT IS

November 6th, 2007 . by JoetheSportsGuy

ROUT OF THE WEEK:  Its getting harder to find these games as the big boys are finally playing who they are suppose to for the most part.
These two nominations came for the small school world:
No. 1 Garden Webb 66 Savanah St. 0….45-0 at the half. 607-78 in Total Yards.  It was Savanah State 2nd biggest loss in their history only top in 1953 lost to Bethune Cookman….98-0.  Not sure if that score make this blog.

No. 2 Dayton 61 Butler 0….41-0 at the half.  530-69 in Total Yards.  Butler started the season 4-0 and now has lost six straight.  Reminds one of one of the local pro football teams doesn’t it.

NOTEWORTHY GAMES OF THE WEEK:
NO. 3…Rhode Island 12 Massachusetts 6 in Overtime…
What’s so Note Worthy about this besides a 1-7 team beating a 7-1 team? Massachusetts 6 points came on 3 safeties.  Would of been more appropriate them winning 8-6 in Overtime.  Although with the College Overtime rule its a lot to ask for a 75 yard loss for that fourth safety.

NO. 2…Kansas 76 Nebraska 39....Kansas scored more points in this game then they did the whole decade of the 80’s vs. Nebraska.  Nebraska actually led this game 14-7.  It was 48-24 at halftime.

NO. 1…Navy 46 Notre Dame 44 (3OT)…First time that Navy has beaten Notre Dame since November 2nd, 1963 and they meet every season.  Roger Staubach, who tormented the Niners in the early 70’s in the NFL playoffs, was Navy’s quarterback.  Three weeks later President Kennedy made a fateful trip to Dallas that I’m guessing kids today are reading about in their history books.
