NFL PICKS…WEEK 10…STARTING THE SECOND HALF
November 9th, 2007 . by JoetheSportsGuyHalfway through the NFL Season and decided to go back and look back at the predictions at the beginning of the season. I am glad to say my game picks are working out better.
NFC WEST: Took the Niners. As sad as they have been even sadder yet— a win this week will put them right in the thick of things. Not holding my breath.
NFC NORTH: Took the Bears like the rest of the world did. Three of the most surprising teams are in this division. The good: Packers and Lions. The bad: Well the Bears. Another reminder for planning those Thanksgiving dinners….Packers and Lions meet Thanksgiving Morning.
NFC SOUTH: Took the Saints and stayed with them even after the bad start. That pick is looking good right now.
NFC EAST: Took the Cowboys then…and still with the Cowboys now, although not enjoying the Cowboys return to first place.
(2-2 for the NFC…at the moment)
AFC WEST: Might be my best pick. Said back in the preview “San Diego is the only team in the division that has the same quarterback they started last year with. Add to it they have so much talent that even Norv Turner can’t mess this one up…although at times he will try.” He has tried hasn’t he? But still tied for first place.
AFC NORTH: Took Cincinnati. Yeah that was a good pick.
AFC SOUTH: Thought the Colts would have a Super Bowl hangover. Another good pick.
AFC EAST: Well got this one right.
(2-2 for the AFC…at the moment)
SUPER BOWL PICK: Remember this line? “San Francisco over San Diego (I can dream can’t I)…. “ More like a fantasy isn’t it? 0-2 here.
As for better news:
LAST WEEK: 10- 4 71.4% That’s five of the nine weeks where the percentage was over 70. I’ll take that.
SEASON: 86- 44 66.2% Week 4 when I went 4-10 has been hard to recover from but…
Yahoo’s best is now at 85-45…So still holding on to a one game lead.
MINNESOTA (3-5) AT GREEN BAY (7-1)….The Vikings Adrian Peterson is getting the headlines, but the Packers are getting the wins. Packers continue to be one of the good surprises of NFL 2007.
JACKSONVILLE (5-3) AT TENNESSEE (6-2)…Big game with playoff implications. Tennessee not the prettiest looking team in the league, but they know how to win and will show that again.
DENVER(3-5) AT KANSAS CITY(4-4)…With the records of these two teams its hard to say without breaking out in a laugh that the top of the AFC West is at stake. Chiefs at home will be enough.
ST LOUIS(0-8) AT NEW ORLEANS(4-4)…The last time we were talking about the Rams before their bye we were wondering if they would win a game this season. Not this week. Scary thought: Next week they are at San Francisco.
BUFFALO(4-4) AT MIAMI(0-8)…The last time we were talking about the Dolphins before their bye we were wondering if they would win a game this season. Not this week.
CLEVELAND(5-3) AT PITTSBURGH(6-2)….This looks like a battle for the division lead, which I guess by record it is. The Browns have a three game winning streak, two of those wins over teams with a combined record of 0-16. Welcome back to the real world.
PHILADELPHIA(3-5) AT WASHINGTON(5-3)….Donovan McNabb says its not all my fault. Ok…but the Redskins will pile on some more blame his way.
ATLANTA(2-6) AT CAROLINA(4-4)…At last word the Falcons were still partying over their win over the Niners. So how can they be ready for this one?
CHICAGO(3-5) AT OAKLAND(2-6)…Raiders only two games out of first place!!!! Bears right up their as the biggest disappointment in the NFL. Will keep the critics off their backs this week.
DETROIT(6-2) AT ARIZONA(3-5)…Its hard to picks an NFC West team unless they are playing a NFC West team(see Monday Night). So why am I taking the NFC West team?
CINCINNATI(2-6) AT BALTIMORE(4-4)…The Ravens aren’t going to be happy campers after the massacre on Monday Night against the Steelers. A perfect victim coming into town.
DALLAS(7-1) AT NY GIANTS(6-2)…This is the second week in a row to hope for a Raider blackout to get this game on TV(just heard the Raiders sold-out, so some much for that). Doesn’t seem as important considering these teams are both hard to root for and funner to root against. Giants just because.
INDIANAPOLIS(7-1) AT SAN DIEGO(4-4) (SUNDAY NIGHT)…The Colts won’t be in a great mood after letting that game slip away with New England. San Diego hasn’t been in a great mood all season, but haven’t been able to do much about it. Won’t be able to do much about it in this game either.
SAN FRANCISCO(2-6) AT SEATTLE(4-4) (MONDAY NIGHT)….Every time I see the ESPN commercial for “Is it Monday Yet?” it reminds me how disappointing this Niner season has been. The disappointment continues.
