NFL PLAYOFF PICKS…WEEK 2
January 11th, 2008 . by JoetheSportsGuyNow is the big boys turn. The teams that are at home after a bye. And looking at the lines for the games…the bettors don’t expect much.
The smallest spread is 6 1/2…Dallas over the Giants.
Another interesting…on a poll that ESPN is running, more people think the Colts and Packers will win then the Patriots.
As for last week(yuk):
STRAIGHT UP: 2-2 50%
VS. SPREAD: 1-3 37.5%
WORST PICK: Saying Tampa Bay would have the easiest win. Turns out that their opponent did.
BEST PICK WITH NOT ENOUGH CREDIT: San Diego would scare their fans before winning….they did, but still covered the spread.
ONTO WEEK 2
Saturday’s games are being played in Cold Weather Cities…but according to the forecast doesn’t look that bad….
SATURDAY
SEATTLE (11-6) AT GREEN BAY (13-3) (-8)…1:30 FOX…Silly me not remembering how much of a home field advantage it is in Seattle and they still struggled to beat Washington. No home field advantage here…and the Packers, outside of the two games vs. Chicago, has been as good as anyone in the NFL…well except at times New England. Green Bay has the whole package that in most seasons would make them the Super Bowl favorite.
JACKSONVILLE (12-5) AT NEW ENGLAND (16-0)(-13 1/2)… 5 PM CBS…This is the game CBS wanted for their prime time Saturday. The other choice was Tennessee. Jacksonville outside of two bad games vs. the Colts and Saints (and a couple of near 2nd half meltdowns vs. Pittsburgh) has had a solid year. Expect this game to be a lot like the Giant-Pat game where the Pats will get scared….but not scared enough. The 13 1/2 is allot….and the feeling is Jacksonville will stay closer then that.
SUNDAY
SAN DIEGO (12-5) AT INDIANAPOLIS (13-3)(-9)…. 10 AM CBS…This is the pick I have the most confident in. But I said that about Tampa Bay last week. Colts in a one sided game to put the Chargers out of their misery.
NY GIANTS (11-6) AT DALLAS (13-3)(-7 1/2)…1:30 FOX…With the first game on Sunday the one I feel best about, the second game I’m not sure. Dallas is the most overrated team in football, but handled the Giants easily twice. Which brings me to the Giants…they have been hammered by Dallas twice, Green Bay, Washington…and got credit for hanging in there against New England and loss that one to.
This is just from the gut…Dallas wins…and covers the spread.
REVIEW…
Green Bay with a fairly one sided win over Seattle and covers the 8 points.
New England will have a battle but will win the game…but not cover the spread
Indianapolis in the rout of the week…(I’m thinking 41-17)
Dallas he says nervously by at least 10
