CIPS-Certified International Property Specialist meet at Keller Williams Atlanta, Georgia Convention!
February 14th, 2008 . by Mike KellyOur Certified International Property Specialists or CIPS group from Keller Williams met at our annual real estate convention in Atlanta, Georgia last week. I was one of the first “in line” for the luncheon rush! We ended up about half way back in tthe enormous hall as the waiters kept waving me deeper and deeper into the hall. I finally set up my CIPS reservation signs and started waving my fuchsia colored flyer over my head. We had previously agreed to meet at the luncheon on Tuesday. We had a full table of CIPS in attendance having a fun, productive informal meeting. We had a round-table discussion on how to promote the CIPS designation and our experiences with the international market discussing the relative “bargain” of our property in light of the diminished value of the dollar in relation to almost every major currency!!
The best idea shared was to gather a select group of professionals to discuss the “International Marketplace” in your area. The group could consist of a lawyer, CPA with international tax specialty, resort/hotel owner, insurance, business development from our local Chamber, etc. The Realtor was from Florida and she assembled a luncheon, 8 folks max, who all sat down at a local restaurant to discuss how they all could refer international business.
Others recommended joining the European Realtor Association plus attending different events outside the U.S. One was “Sima” which is held in Spain every year. Next year the Family Reunion will be in Florida which is a hot-bed of International purchases as it is so close to Europe. The British are main investor’s in many parts of Florida. If you have a need to “expand” your market for your property give me a call and we can show you how exposure to the “International Marketplace” is a great idea!!
