NFL PICK AND PANS WEEK 4
September 26th, 2008 . by JoetheSportsGuyHere we are just three Weeks into the NFL Season and there are some obvious adjustments that has to be made with our NFL part of the Brain.
For example:
1. Miami 38 New England 13…Yeah everyone saw that coming.
2. New England will miss the playoffs. There was a actually a debate on this on ESPN and one of the “so called experts” said they would miss them. It’s really to early to say that. Remember New England is in the AFC East which is not a very good division (at least it doesn’t appear to be). Also the AFC may of been overrated to. After three weeks six teams are over .500 (including New England), ten are under .500.
3. The Colts will miss the playoffs. What an exacta. This has a little more belief to it because the Colts are one of those ten teams under .500 and they are in the AFC South. Although besides Tennessee at 3-0, no other team in that division is over .500 either.
4. The six undefeated teams include Buffalo, Tennessee and Denver and doesn’t include New England, Indianapolis, San Diego or Pittsburgh
5. The Niners have an offense. Or so it seems. At the very least they are making the Niner Faithful care again.
6. The Raiders haven’t fired their coach. But the headline will come again soon that they will. Only time will tell if it will be true this time. It is hard to believe that the circus can continue, but continues it does. Have to hand it to the Raiders for looking like a team this last two weeks with the circus around them.
7. The Lions fire Matt Millen. OK not exactly a shock, except on how long that took. I guess the powers at be could stand all that losing, but they couldn’t stand being embarrassed by the Forty Niners.
8. My picks. Despite the craziness they have improved each week. Not sure if that means I know what I’m talking about or not.
LAST WEEK: 10- 6
SEASON: 26-21 55.3 %
LAST SEASON: 35-13 72.9 % and got steadily worse.
The byes start this week: Indianapolis, Miami, New England, Seattle, NY Giants and Detroit take the first week off…
SUNDAY EARLY GAMES
ARIZONA (2-1) AT NY JETS (1-2)…Arizona just missed in Washington last week and need a road win to keep them on their feet. The way the Jets looked Monday Night, this looks pretty promising
PICK: ARIZONA
MINNESOTA (1-2) AT TENNESSEE (3-0)…Round 1 with Gus Ferrotte was a success. Round 2 not so much.
PICK: TENNESSEE
DENVER (3-0) AT KANSAS CITY (0-3)…The Broncos are averaging as many points of games as the Chiefs are changing Quarterbacks.
PICK: DENVER
SAN FRANCISCO (2-1) AT NEW ORLEANS (1-2)…Seatbelt yourself in for this one. BOTH offenses have gone up and down the field with amazing ease. I’m letting my heart pick this game. Part of my brain agrees with my heart, which shows some improvement in Niners land…but the Saints need this win badly.
PICK: SAN FRANCISCO
ATLANTA (2-1) AT CAROLINA (2-1)…Before Falcons fans get to excited remember their wins are over Detroit and Kansas City.
PICK: CAROLINA
CLEVELAND (0-3) AT CINCINNATI (0-3)…Advantage Ohio over Missouri. One of the teams in this state has to win…unless…naw it can’t end in a tie…can it?
PICK: CLEVELAND
GREEN BAY (2-1) AT TAMPA BAY (2-1)…Green Bay needs a bounce back game after the National TV performance against Dallas.
PICK: GREEN BAY
HOUSTON (0-2) AT JACKSONVILLE (1-2)…Houston’s third straight game on the road. Jacksonville hoping dramatic win over the Colts gets them on the right track.
PICK: JACKSONVILLE
SUNDAY AFTERNOON GAMES
BUFFALO (3-0) AT ST LOUIS (0-3)…The Rams 37-13 loss to Seattle last week was their closest game of the season.
PICK: BUFFALO
SAN DIEGO (2-1) AT OAKLAND (1-2)…The way the Chargers looked last week this looks like the setup Al Davis is looking for to let Lane Kiffin go, if he really wants too.
PICK: SAN DIEGO
WASHINGTON (2-1) AT DALLAS (3-0)…Its hard to argue with the “experts” that say Dallas is the best team in the NFL. Dang it anyway.
PICK: DALLAS
SUNDAY NIGHT GAME
PHILADELPHIA (2-1) AT CHICAGO (1-2)…It is hard not to take an NFC East team vs. someone outside their division.
PICK: PHILADELPHIA
MONDAY NIGHT GAME
BALTIMORE (2-0) AT PITTSBURGH (2-1)…Both of Baltimore’s wins are against teams from Ohio.
PICK: PITTSBURGH
