NFL PICKS AND PANTS…WEEK 6

October 10th, 2008 . by JoetheSportsGuy

Looking at those 2-3 Teams:
As we get enter the second quarter of the NFL season looking at the teams that are 2-3 in a nutshell shows how crazy of season this has started out to be.  Not only the teams that are 2-3, but teams that could be or are over 2-3 makes one takes notice that either this is going to be wild and wacky season…or its the start of a long season and things will get back to normal soon.

For example:
The 2-3 teams include the Niners.  Lets go back to their Week 1 game vs. Arizona and part of my prediction:
PICK:  NINERS IN A COMPLETE HEART TALKING PICK AND THEY BETTER WIN IT OR A 0-8 START IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION
Well the Niners lost that game….and the 0-8 start IS out of the question, although hearing Niner fans whine you would think they expected a 5-0 start.   The point is though, that the NFL has had a strange look to it so far.

The Rest Of the 2-3 teams:
Here they are….San Diego, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Green Bay, Minnesota and Philadelphia.  All those teams, except Philadelphia, were considered favorites in their divisions..or co favorites.

That’s not all….because of bye weeks some teams have played four games and the following teams could be 2-3:
Indianapolis, Baltimore, Cleveland, NY Jets, Miami, Oakland and Seattle.
Again three of those teams were mentioned in a lot of places as conference favorites…and Cleveland and Seattle need to win their next game to get to 2-3…and Miami needs to lose.  Yes the same Miami team that was 1-15 last season.

Add to it teams that are over 2-3 include Atlanta who needs one more win to equal last seasons win total.

Makes for a fun and confusing season.

The fun and confusing doesn’t help my picks:

LAST WEEK:   7- 7 (second worst week of the season)
SEASON:      40-34  54.1 %

WEEK 6

BYES:  BUFFALO, TENNESSEE, KANSAS CITY AND PITTSBURGH…

EARLY GAMES
BALTIMORE (2-2) AT INDIANAPOLIS (2-2)….
The Colts win over the Texans last week in a nutshell is an example of how crazy of a season this has been…
PICK: INDIANAPOLIS

DETROIT (0-4) AT MINNESOTA (2-3)….
The Lion’s looked like a team last week that rehired Matt Millen
PICK: MINNESOTA

OAKLAND (1-3) AT NEW ORLEANS (2-3)…
The Raiders first game post Kiffen era.  Won’t help.
PICK: NEW ORLEANS

CINCINNATI (0-5) AT NY JETS (2-2)…
The best thing you can say about the Bengals is that they have been competive.
PICK: NY JETS

CHICAGO (3-2) AT ATLANTA (3-2)…
Here is a couple of 3-2 teams that weren’t expected to be 3-2.
PICK: CHICAGO

CAROLINA (4-1) AT TAMPA BAY (3-2)…
Carolina took advantage of teams under 2-3 and got two fairly easy home wins.   Tampa Bay’s two losses by a combined seven points.
PICK:  TAMPA BAY

ST. LOUIS (0-4) AT WASHINGTON (4-1)…
The Rams first game post Linehan era.  Won’t help.
PICK: WASHINGTON

The Texan loss to the Colts in nutshell is an example of how crazy of a season this has been..
PICK: HOUSTON

AFTERNOON GAMES
JACKSONVILLE (2-3) AT DENVER (4-1)….
Jacksonville three losses are by a combined 16 points.  On the other hand their two wins are by a combined five points…I’m guessing this will be a close game..
PICK: JACKSONVILLE

PHILADELPHIA (2-3) AT SAN FRANCISCO (2-3)….
Hard to take any NFC West team over any NFC East Team.

GREEN BAY (2-3) AT SEATTLE (1-3)…
Mike Holgrem must be thinking “Why didn’t I retire this season?”
PICK: GREEN BAY

DALLAS (4-1) AT ARIZONA (3-2)…
Hard to take any NFC West team over any NFC East Team
PICK: DALLAS

SUNDAY NIGHT GAME
NEW ENGLAND (3-1) AT SAN DIEGO (2-3)….
Chargers will not be in a happy mood…and they need the win….Seems like this is what happened last season about this time..
PICK: SAN DIEGO.

MONDAY NIGHT GAME
