Ways to Cut your Energy costs here in Sonoma County and beyond!!

Consider some small lifestyle changes that we, as consumers, can make to help conserve the energy supply this summer. Just a few small things can add up to big energy savings that will help your pocketbook too.

Simple Steps to Energy Savings:

Replace and recycle your old refrigerator and purchase an energy-efficient model. Refrigerators that are 10 years old can use twice the energy of newer models. Replacing other appliances, such as the air conditioner, microwave and dishwasher, with newer ones can provide similar savings,

Put an insulating blanket around your water heater and weatherstrip around doors and windows

Close windows when heating or cooling. Close off door and vents in unused areas. Make sure your fireplace damper is shut when not in use. Read the rest of this entry »

  I was alerted to the following web site from a listener to the show, Michael Houlihan, Managing Member for Foss Creek Villas, LLC. Mike, who will be on the show later in July, was boasting of the “walkability” of the Foss Creek Villas in Healdsburg (www.fosscreekvillas.com). His community was in the “90’s” for “walkability” which means one living in Foss Creek Villas could get by WITHOUT A CAR!!
