The year of the quarterback turned into the year of the fired coach for one brief moment. Mike Shanahan going at Denver shocked the so called expert. Myself was more surprised about Jets Eric Mangini. Even though I wasn’t a big fan of his…He did get a bad rap this season as the signing of Brett Favre set the expectations way to high. As for me disaster week…(how could I take the Lions?). That had a boomerang effect for the rest of the week..

Before we move onto to the playoff jockeying..lets go back in time.
Sammy Baugh passed away this week at the age of 94. The reason I am mentioning this is to point out the difference of the game then and now.
Baugh, whose No. 33 is the only number retired by the Washington Redskins, was the first group of Hall Of Fames back in 1963 is remembered as a quarterback, but the NFL back then, is like High School now…the Quarterback did more then Quarterback. Read the rest of this entry »
